This notice describes the public Spendoir website and its browser demo. The iPhone app is still in development and is not available for public download here.
The browser demo
New visitors start in temporary mode. Names, categories and optional USD amounts stay in this page’s memory until you choose to save or export them. Reloading clears temporary entries. Browser back/forward navigation may restore a page from memory; use “Clear notebook” before leaving a shared device.
Optional device saving
Turning on “Save on this device” stores this browser notebook in localStorage on this website’s origin. That choice remains on when you return to a valid saved notebook. It does not create an account, upload entries, or synchronize with another browser, device, the iPhone app or the old prototype.
Anyone using this browser profile can reopen it. Spendoir does not encrypt this storage or provide a password lock. Hiding amounts only changes the display. Browser settings, clearing site data, device loss or private-browsing cleanup can remove saved data. Keep a separate JSON backup if the notebook matters to you.
“Delete saved copy” asks for confirmation, removes only this notebook’s storage and switches to temporary mode; current moments stay in page memory until cleared or reloaded. Turning saving off uses that same confirmation. “Clear notebook” removes current moments and, when saving is on, updates the saved copy to an empty notebook. These actions do not delete your downloaded files. An unreadable or unsupported saved file is preserved for recovery, not automatically reset.
JSON backup and restore
Export downloads a JSON file with all names, categories and amounts, including amounts hidden on screen. It is not encrypted. Your browser, downloads folder, backup software or anyone you send the file to may retain a copy. Check that the file downloaded before deleting a notebook.
Import reads the file you select in this browser and validates it before asking to replace the current notebook. With saving on, confirmed import also replaces its saved device copy. No file is uploaded by the import code. “Download last-read saved file” offers the unchanged stored text for recovery if normal loading fails; an invalid recovery file may need repair before it can be imported.
The demo uses sample artwork and does not access your camera, photos, bank accounts or device location. There is no cloud sync, mailing list or payment processing.
Website hosting and analytics
This website is served through Cloudflare. Loading it sends ordinary connection information, such as your IP address and requested page, to the hosting provider. The live site also loads Cloudflare Web Analytics, observed on September 13, 2026. Website usage and performance information can therefore leave your device even though the demo does not upload its entries.
Hosting and analytics are separate from the notebook’s storage. We have not verified the hosting account’s retention settings. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy for the provider’s handling of information. This site does not claim to be free of all telemetry or network requests.
The iPhone app under development
The current native app stores purchase photos, names, categories and optional amounts using an on-device database. No purchase-upload service or bank connection is implemented. Device backups and photos already synced through your photo library are separate from that database; deleting the app can remove its local collection. A durable backup and restore journey is not currently offered by Spendoir.
If you choose to share a photo or scrapbook card, it leaves the app through the service you select. The card renderer omits the dedicated amount field, but text and photos you include can still reveal prices or personal details. Review them before sharing.
Availability and contact
Contact [email protected] for support or privacy questions. Clicking the link opens your email app; nothing is sent automatically. If you send email, its contents and your address are shared with the recipient and email providers. Do not include sensitive financial details or notebook files unless needed for your request.
The browser demo is available without registration. A public native app release and final app distribution disclosures are still pending. There is no mailing list or promised release date. Bookmark the home page to check for updates.
